Carrot Dogs (Protest Kitchen)

Hi everyone! This week I made the carrot dogs from Protest Kitchen; the marinade was really good, and the carrots were a fun substitute for hot dogs -- and yes, thats a piece of bread for the bun; when I went out for groceries this week, the only hot dog buns in stock at the health food store had honey in them, so vegan white bread to the rescue, lol! I had the carrot dogs with Annie’s vegan mac and corn on the cob.

For some bonus food, here’s a meal from earlier in the week that featured some of the wax beans I grew in my garden (plus the vegan chickenless tenders from Aldi and tater tots)...

And here’s Leela in her favorite summertime napping spot in the corner of the bathroom…

“Why do you disturb my slumber?”

*ignores you and goes back to sleep*

P.S. Bethlehem VegFest is tomorrow!

Peace. :)

  1. I remember making carrot hot dogs back when I lived in Seattle, and I really enjoyed them. I'll have to try that recipe!
Ha ha, my black kittie Etta has a summer spot in the bathroom too!

    1. It's so good! The prices are good enough that you can stock up on freezer staples for when you are not feeling well. I believe their vegan frozen meat subs are about $3.49 each at the highest which is significantly better than the typical brands (at least here). If you go try the dessert hummus too!

  4. I am so keen to make carrot hotdogs at some point, the idea just amuses me and plus they sound like they will be tasty!
Here in Australia, sausage in bread is an culinary institution! Granted they tend to not be hot dogs, but there is no shame in using bread. It should ideally be white. Possibly with some onions. And lots of tomato sauce. We call it a sausage sizzle and it is a really common as a fundraiser or at elections. While they are not traditionally vegan, there are some popping up now! Or just make your own at home.

Leela is beautiful. Black cats are beautiful!
