Some Random Goodies + Christmas 2019

Hi everyone, I’ve finally tried the vanilla bean dessert hummus with some pretzels, and it is so good!

I’ve also been enjoying this chocolate that Zach got for me…

And I tried this new-to-me vegan mac; I didn’t care for the pasta on its own, but once combined with the sauce, it was delicious!

Two Christmas dinners again this year – we went to my parents’ first…

chicken noodle soup

Field Roast celebration roast and agave-glazed carrots by me, green beans and roasted potatoes by my mom, and corn and mac by my sister

And then we went to Zach’s family and got to meet their foster pup Tatiana; she’s such a cutie!

Catching Up After Vegan MoFo

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well! I’ve set a goal for myself to write at least 400 words each day, Monday to Friday. I decided that blog posts can count toward that, so if you don’t see a post from me, you can assume I’m working on some other writing haha! So, first up today: I realized I never shared my food pictures from Phoenixville VegFest, so let’s remedy that, shall we? Zach got a ham sandwich with coconut bacon, as well as some cheese fries…

I got the loaded pierogies from the Vegan Voyagers food truck (super fun!)…

And Alena got the cheesesteak from VBQ

Of course we stood in line for Vegan Treats; I got this cute chocolate cupcake with cream cheese filling (yum!)…

And this funnel cake donut, which was amazing…

In garden news, I’ve been making lots of pickles; here are the four jars I made in August…

And here are some cute friends from the yard and garden…

On Saturday I went to the farmers market to pick up some apple cider from North Star Orchard for Zach, and I took this picture of one of my favorite murals in town…

On Sunday, I went to Seed & Soil again, this time with my sister and her husband. For my drink, I got another watermelon lemonade, though I was curious about the cucumber mint limeade (new on the menu); perhaps I’ll have to try that next time!

For food, I got the Beyond Italian sausage and also tried the garlic parmesan cauliflower wings (the other options are BBQ and buffalo). The sausage was so, so good, and I absolutely loved the pretzel roll it was served on! The cauliflower wings were really good, too; the garlic parmesan was a fun variation that I’d never had before!

I also got to hang out some more with sweet Pola and Hobbs…

And finally, since other people have been sharing their fun grocery hauls, I figured I would share the goodies from my quick trip to Kimberton Whole Foods today…

I’m hoping to get back into sketching this month, so some of those will hopefully make an appearance in future posts! I’ll still aim to try at least one new recipe a week, too; this week’s will be a rice salad with avocado dressing, a recipe my aunt clipped out for me!

Here is a silly Daisy, paused mid-groom…

Peace. :)

Elementary, My Dear Vegan: Burgers from a Food Truck

Hi everyone! Today’s “Elementary, My Dear Vegan” is from S1E24 (“Heroine”). While on another long stakeout (this time with Holmes and Bell), Watson – having noticed a food truck not far from where they are – says that she is going to “get some burgers.”

Zach and I went to lunch with my sister today to try out Seed & Soil, a new vegan restaurant that recently opened in Pottstown, inside the farmer’s market. The outside of their kitchen is designed to look like a food truck (see their picture on Instagram), which is such a cute & fun idea! The menu is small, but everything we got was really good, including the drinks…

Alena got the Beyond sausage and loved it…

I was in a rare salad mood, so I got their jerk Caesar salad (which was delicious but you will have to wait until Tuesday to see it hehe), and Zach ordered the Beyond burger. (I had his leftovers tonight; it was my first time trying the Beyond burgerthe most realistic of vegan burgers that I have had so far, which is both weird and good!)

Here’s Rogue resting on the coffee table…

And for a bonus pic, before and after lunch, I got to visit with my nephew Hobbs and his foster sister Pola! Here they are having settled down next to each other after Hobbs had gotten ready to go out for a walk…

Peace. :)

Sweet & Spicy Foods This Week

Hi everyone! Last Saturday, we got to meet Chuck, a very cute pup currently being fostered by my sister and brother-in-law.

And then my sister and I made a delicious spicy lunch!

tortilla chips topped with Morningstar Farms vegan chorizo crumbles, Aldi vegan mozzarella, salsa, and guacamole

My breakfasts this week have been extra sweet as I’ve been making the nutnog overnight oats from Kittens Gone Lentil (minus the pomegranate arils, and heating up the oats for at least a minute in the microwave since I don’t like cold oats).

I also made the sweet & spicy sauce from My cat loves Daiya! for a bowl of rice, veggies, baked tofu, and avocado. I used sambal oelek when I couldn’t find gochujang paste, and it was still really good!

Here’s Daisy being her cute little self...

Peace. :)
