Hi everyone! Today's Vegan MoFo prompt is: Goth Day – Blues, purples, blacks? Let your dark side shine, so I made forbidden rice with black beans. Zach said it looked like "dinner from the Black Lagoon," but it was really good! I cooked the rice in vegetable broth, and added salt & pepper to the black beans.
Here's Leela, fitting perfectly inside her own personal sunbeam...
Peace. :)
I've never had forbidden rice. Is it similar to wild rice? Your meal definitely looks Goth!! Cute Leela, my kitties chase the sunbeams too!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D It's a shorter grain than wild rice and apparently it has a bunch of antioxidants. It's good, but of the two, I actually prefer the taste & texture of wild rice.
DeleteNice! I originally wanted to do something with black rice and black beans for the black and white day, but they ended up looking more brown. But I definitely had black rice on my goth dinner.
ReplyDeleteYeah, when I opened the can of beans, they looked reddish and I was super confused because I've had black beans before that looked a bit more black. Your goth dinner looked great! :)
DeleteI love Forbidden Rice!!! Delicious stuff! I bet it's superb with black beans.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janyce! The forbidden rice paired so well with the black beans! :)
